ralphjd Posted 30 May , 2008 Posted 30 May , 2008 Can any of our Australian friends help out a "pommy bas**** " by taking a photo of panel 79 in the Australian War Memorial Canberra containing the name Arthur FODEN commemorated on our local war memorial. Thanks in anticipation. Ralph.
nhclark Posted 31 May , 2008 Posted 31 May , 2008 Ralph, can't help with the photograph unfortunately (I'm in Melbourne) but just in case you haven't done the following: Go to http://www.awm.gov.au/ then on the rhs click on "Research a Person" and search on "Foden", and this gives a couple of references to Arthur, and then if you go to http://naa12.naa.gov.au/NameSearch/Interfa...SearchForm.aspx and again search on "Foden" the second hit is Arthur. Just click on "View digital image" and there are 53 pages of Arthur's service record there for you. Noel
ralphjd Posted 31 May , 2008 Author Posted 31 May , 2008 Noel, Many thanks for this, can you not just nip out on your bike one morning Melbourne-Canberra not far is it ? (says he tongue in cheek) Regards Ralph.
Fedelmar Posted 31 May , 2008 Posted 31 May , 2008 Ralph ... just a suggestion ... if you put in your heading something to the effect that you would like a photograph perhaps one of the folk in Canberra might sit up and take notice Bright Blessings Sandra
nhclark Posted 31 May , 2008 Posted 31 May , 2008 Ralph here's a link that you might try: http://www.australianwargraves.org/about.php Too cold for me in Canberra at this time of year! Noel
Fedelmar Posted 31 May , 2008 Posted 31 May , 2008 Noel ... I think Matt only does headstones and not the war memorial panels where the names as listed. Bright Blessings Sandra
ralphjd Posted 31 May , 2008 Author Posted 31 May , 2008 Noel/Sandra. Already asked Matt if he could help, but unfortunately he cannot and doesnt think that the AWM would do it for me either, in case it set a precedence. I shall do as you suggest Sandra and put photo required in the heading. As regards Noel "too cold for me " you must be getting soft in your dottage, try living here. Best Wishes Ralph.
Nostalgair Posted 1 June , 2008 Posted 1 June , 2008 Hi Ralph, I live about an hour and a half from the AWM and visit there quite frequently. I also stay in Canberra with work, sometimes a couple of times a month. I'll endeavour to remember to take a photo of the required panel and send to you. Regards, Owen
ralphjd Posted 1 June , 2008 Author Posted 1 June , 2008 Owen, I have put a reply in my other post. Cheers Mate. Ralph.
