jskang Posted 30 May , 2008 Share Posted 30 May , 2008 Hi, I got a british war medal and on the rim it say first letter F or B 6095 H L HOBBINS ACT A M I R N A S'? What is 'Act A M I stand for ? Royal Naval Air Service? What is this mean? Is this sort of a senior rank? I can't find this name on WW1 National archives? I would be grateful if you can find the medal index card. Thanks Mr Kang
Ron Clifton Posted 30 May , 2008 Share Posted 30 May , 2008 What is 'Act A M I stand for ? Royal Naval Air Service? What is this mean? Is this sort of a senior rank? Acting Air Mechanic, 1st Class. Something like Lance-Sergeant, I think. Ron
horatio2 Posted 30 May , 2008 Share Posted 30 May , 2008 You can download his record of service from Kew for £3.50. See: http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documen...p;resultcount=1 There are no medal index cards for naval personnel. There are naval medal rolls at Kew - not on-line.
