Guest KevinEndon Posted 30 May , 2008 Share Posted 30 May , 2008 Terry, if a name is wrong on the Menin gate where the soldier is down as E. P McKinley instead of F.P. McKinley, would the CWGC try and fill in the line at the bottom of the E to make it look like an F or would they change the whole panel. Being that the panel is in very good condition the change may be another 50 years or so. Do you know if there are any plans to change this small mistake to some but a huge mistake to others. Terry Denham Posted 30 May , 2008 Share Posted 30 May , 2008 Hundreds of errors exist - often mistakes made by stonemasons, sometimes data errors. If errors can be corrected by a stonemason, they often are. Otherwise they will wait till the panel is replaced which, as you say, can be a very long time - a very, very long time in the case of bronze panels!
