First time in Ypres last April, walked into the Old Tom, mate asked them for three Pints, €21........I kid you not !! They did have beer that was cheaper, but my mate had just asked for beer. Next pub my round € 9.90 for three pints, there are some real nice pubs there, found the old Bill a bit smokey when it filled up. Peter

I've found some really cheap bars, 'The Walker' x 2 drinks 5 euro (ename), we had x 2 Kapittel's at 'Old Tom' today 7 euro normally 5 euro 2 doors up, but I suppose it's in the touristy bit, we tend to try and drink with the locals although we do not have a clue what's being said, which is probably quite handy"!

Actually 7 euor's not even bad for good quality drinks, I seem to remember that the naff chemically beers in Blighty were edging towards £3 / £3.50 a pint! fortunately I will never have to endure that again!

I also had x 3 Brugge tripples at 'The Walker' which left me needing an air ambulance home, and 40 cups of tea in recovery, I won't be doing that again......

Get your wife to drive you to St Sixtus at Westvleteren. The beer isn't cheap, but its among the very best beers in the world. Don't tell her or she'll make you drive.

Cheers Keith,

I'll do that, although I think I'm orf the beer for a bit as I went to the 12 apostels last nite and am in recovery from some Champagne Coctails that I had.

Thats Right, its on the Corner of the Road that leads down to Dikkebus Lake..never been in there as it always seem to be closed. :D

It's not far from the Tommelin 'Drink and Drive-In' warehouse (I'm not making that up) where I often go to replenish my beer supplies at very low cost. You literally drive in to the warehouse and load the magical elixir into your car.

Tommy's Bar on the Dikkibus road is actually a nice place. They do good food and the people who run it are very pleasant. For a far from the madding crowd drink and a meal its ideal. They are closed Mondays and Tuesdays although I'm not sure if they open on Tuesdays during the summer. Well worth a visit.
