after some research found a relative who served in the RHA enlisted 29/2/07 discharged 25/10/14 then re enlists into the RAMC aug 1919 on a one year enlistment and i cant think why this would have happened any one any ideas???

A short answer, but got to go out for a while...

Possibly for the North Russia campaign?

Could he have volunteered to have been a driver or an orderly helping those suffering from the flu epidemic.

I can think of a number of plausible reasons why someone might re enlist in 1919 but the problem is that if he was discharged in Oct 1914 this would suggest that he was wounded, sick or otherwise unfit for service and stayed that way right through the war. Therefore how come he was able to serve in 1919?

Many men re~enlisted{including My G/F W.G.Drake,who had been discharged MU in 1916}for service in the BOAR {British Army Of The Rhine~In effect an Army of Occupation}

If it is 1919 it could have been something to do with the rebellion in southern Ireland. Former English, Welsh or Scottish soldiers may have re-enlisted to help in the "police" role in Ireland, while many ex-Irish soldiers were re-employed for "barrack duties" within secure military sites so that their families were not murdered or intimidated by the rebels.

found his papers appears he was discharged under 392(XV1) discharged service on termination of period of service

when he re inlisted in 1919 posted to 35 coy Ramc and served in uk only, age on re inlistment 36 still wonder why he reinlisted ???

Tom his occupation up untill his re enlistment ran a pub i think
