Stebie9173 Posted 29 May , 2008 Posted 29 May , 2008 A short answer, but got to go out for a while... Possibly for the North Russia campaign? Steve.
Guest KevinEndon Posted 29 May , 2008 Posted 29 May , 2008 Could he have volunteered to have been a driver or an orderly helping those suffering from the flu epidemic.
centurion Posted 29 May , 2008 Posted 29 May , 2008 I can think of a number of plausible reasons why someone might re enlist in 1919 but the problem is that if he was discharged in Oct 1914 this would suggest that he was wounded, sick or otherwise unfit for service and stayed that way right through the war. Therefore how come he was able to serve in 1919?
HarryBettsMCDCM Posted 29 May , 2008 Posted 29 May , 2008 Many men re~enlisted{including My G/F W.G.Drake,who had been discharged MU in 1916}for service in the BOAR {British Army Of The Rhine~In effect an Army of Occupation}
Stanley_C_Jenkins Posted 29 May , 2008 Posted 29 May , 2008 If it is 1919 it could have been something to do with the rebellion in southern Ireland. Former English, Welsh or Scottish soldiers may have re-enlisted to help in the "police" role in Ireland, while many ex-Irish soldiers were re-employed for "barrack duties" within secure military sites so that their families were not murdered or intimidated by the rebels.
