ralphjd Posted 29 May , 2008 Posted 29 May , 2008 He has a Medal Index Card on Ancestry, entered theatre of war 30-1-1915 entitled to the 1914-15 Star, British War and Victory medals. Ralph.
Stebie9173 Posted 29 May , 2008 Posted 29 May , 2008 204th Field Company was part of the 35th Division. The timing of his transit overseas is spot on for him being an original member of the company. http://www.1914-1918.net/35div.htm The Company has a war diary at the National Archives: WO 95/2476 204 Field Company Royal Engineers 1916 Feb. - 1919 Mar. From the records of original embarkation dates of R.E. Companies: Note that embarking on one day and sailing overnight and landing the next was almost the norm, hence a day discrepancy was not unusual. Steve.
irishmen1916 Posted 30 May , 2008 Author Posted 30 May , 2008 Hi Steve /Ralph, Thanks for that, you have given me some where to start, and I had nothingto start with. Thomas's son Andrew passed away this year, and Andrew was also in the Armyand served in Korea in the 1950's, but all the family had was a old Document about Thomas whichhad few clue's. Thanks again. Peter
