Lachlan07 Posted 28 May , 2008 Share Posted 28 May , 2008 I would be grateful for information how how puttees were put on. I read somewhere that it started with a short vertical run of puttee (6") on the shin to the ankle, then twisted round 90 degs to satrt the helical winding up to the knee, ginishing off with the narrow tape ending. Is my understanding correct ? (For cavalry was different). But how wide was the overlap ie how many windings from ankle to knee ? Did battalions vary the look/style ? I've seen photos of puttees wound in criss-cross herringbone style - was that an official style or just individual sartorial touches ? How did they go about doing their puttees that criss-cross way ?
