Remembered Today:

ERF Fryer, MC*

Anyone know anything about Major ERF Fryer, MC* of the 3rd Battalion Grenadier Guards? I have posted a note in Books on his Reminiscences of a Grenadier, which I picked up at the weekend.

He joined the HAC at the start of the War, was in France with them in September '14 (confirmed in their History), and commissioned into the Grenadiers in early '15.

Won an MC and Bar (according to the Grenadier's History), and gets quite a few mentions in that history (not got a chance to look them all up yet). Wounded September '16, and went with the Guards to Germany after the Armistice.

He seems to have known everyone who was anyone - and was Hon Sec of the Household Brigade and the Army Golfing Societies between the wars. His book has no fewer than seven Forwards (including AFAN Thorne and Allan Adair).

Out of interest, I'd be pleased to hear more.

Thanks
