Dudley Posted 23 May , 2008 Share Posted 23 May , 2008 Hi All. I am one day old in the Forum. I am a New Zealander with 22 years in the Regular Force of the NZ Army. I also, for my sins, mount medals and have recently come across a 1914-1915 Star named to 31906 Pte G Grief RAMC. It may well be that this serviceman was a member of the British Army and came to New Zealand post war or in the New Zealand Forces attached to the RAMC. Is there anyone on the forum who can provide any light on this soldiers history? Unfortunatly the New Zealand Archives are not, as yet, open to online research. Many thanks. Dudley Posted 23 May , 2008 Author Share Posted 23 May , 2008 Welcome to the forum, as a starter here's his Medal Index Card..... The response is amazing many thanks. The medal that I had in my possession is, confirmed by your reply, one of three he was entitled to. Thank you so much. I am so impressed with the knowledge base which goes with the forum. SteveE Posted 23 May , 2008 Share Posted 23 May , 2008 Dudley I'm sure I've read something similar on the forum previously but can't find it at the moment. Your man would appear to have been part of a draft of about 43 RAMC men transferred to the Suffolk Regiment and numbered in the 618xx range. Hopefully somebody can find the details.... The list of men can be found Here Regards Steve
