The 6th Batt Gordon Highlanders fought on 31st July 1917 around Kitchener's Wood, can anyone identify this location on a modern day map/Google earth. It is quite near the village of St Julien. Other places near by were Ascot farm and Racecourse farm.

thanks

Brian

Hello Brian

Welcome to the Forum. I am sure someone will post a map for you, but in the meantime here is the Kitchener's Wood Memorial. It marks the place where the Canadians held on against gas attack on 22 April 1915. The wood itself is no longer there.

Jon,

I think the Memorial is 1 km closer to St. Julian, in the Wijngaardstraat. (The place you marked is Moortelweg.)

Sorry. ;)

Jon,

This is your lucky day. For you're also the smallest. Since you are the onlt nit today. So far.

Well, apart from my wife, but that doesn't count.
