jonrb Posted 11 May , 2011 Share Posted 11 May , 2011 Sam Collinson was a member of 2nd/3rdEast Lancashire Field Ambulance, part of 66 Div. He was promoted to Sergeant on 6th March 1915 whilst the unit was at Southport. On the 1st April 1916 he was promoted to the rank of Quatermaster Sergeant when the unit was at Goojerat Barracks, Colchester. The unit left Colchester for Southampton on the27th Feb 1917 arriving the following day. On 1st March they embarked on the SS South Western Miller, arriving at Le Havre early on the 2nd. After only a fortnight in France QMS Collinson was run down by a motor vehicle whilst crossing a principal road in Bethune.
