bmac Posted 14 May , 2008 Share Posted 14 May , 2008 2nd Lt Noel Felix Perris, 1/2nd London Regt. att 143rd Squadron, RAF, was killed on 20th July 1918 and is buried at Detling near Maidstone. I wonder if anyone has to hand a source which might explain the circumstances. I am assuming accident but details would be good.
fetubi Posted 14 May , 2008 Share Posted 14 May , 2008 bmac Lt NF Perris was killed during an anti-Gotha patrol on 20 July 1918 in SE5a C1809. This aircraft collided with another SE5a, C1831, piloted by 2Lt T Wright. Both were killed. C1809 went down out of control and crashed in flames. He had earlier served with 50 Sqn in home defence duties, apparently, as there are mentions for Perris at both 50 and 143 Sqns in "Air Defence of Britiain 1914-1918" by Cole and Cheesman. bmac Posted 14 May , 2008 Author Share Posted 14 May , 2008 Andy, Its your entry that I found that led to all of this!! So, thanks for the kind offer but I will be happily scanning away some time soon from the Dulwich College War Record. PAPMPT, Thanks for the AIR76 suggestion. Sadly no Perris file there or in WO374 either.
