Messina1915 Posted 13 May , 2008 Share Posted 13 May , 2008 Hi Guys A couple of queries about my man's MIC. Firstly, on the front, among the squiggles in the disembarkation date section, which is the disembarkation date? One of them looks like 7/11/14 to me, or maybe 17/11/14, which fits in with him being awarded the 1914 star. Some confirmation would be appreciated. Also, is there a code for which theatre? Secondly, on the back, could anyone work out what the three words in blue are at the bottom right. I think the last one might be Sussex, but I'm not sure about the other two. Cheers, Carole. Messina1915 Posted 13 May , 2008 Author Share Posted 13 May , 2008 And the reverse: Sorry about the small size, if I did it full size it would be too big to upload, so had to do it half screen. Thanks in anticipation, Carole.
mts Posted 13 May , 2008 Share Posted 13 May , 2008 Hi Carole I can't see a theatre and the date could be either as there seems to be at least 2 sets of handwriting styles. I think it's the address Broomham, Catsfield, Battle, Sussex TN33, UK Mel
Coldstreamer Posted 13 May , 2008 Share Posted 13 May , 2008 17 Lancers went to France/Flanders as a unit 7.11.
Chris_Baker Posted 13 May , 2008 Share Posted 13 May , 2008 MIC says "Roll shows 7.11.14". There's no theatre code given. The unit landed at Zeebrugge.
Messina1915 Posted 13 May , 2008 Author Share Posted 13 May , 2008 Many thanks guys - just what I needed. Mel, Catsfield is about 7 1/2 miles from Mountfield where the family came from, so it fits in well. Thanks to Chris and Coldstreamer for the "where and when" of his unit's arrival in theatre. Cheers, Carole.
