The Incomer Posted 27 April , 2008 Share Posted 27 April , 2008 M.Gerard Margotin long serving Mayor of over 40 years until he stood down in March,collapsed and died yesterday after attending a funeral in the village.Each November 11th and July 14th,he headed the procession and laid wreaths not only at the French Memorial but also at the British ones,ending at the Tyneside Seat,after which followed a vin d'honnuer in the Village Hall.In more recent years he attended the July 1st Lochnagar service and two years ago arranged the parking area on his land opposite the Crater.
