Remembered Today:

Returned Medals

Chris has just completed some brilliant research for me into the sevice history of my Great Uncle, who was KIA in June 1916 whilst seving with the 1st Btn Kings Liverpool Regiment.

Apparantly his medals were returned in May 1923, as he had died intestate. This seems rather odd to me as my Great Grandmother, and my Grandmother were both still alive at that time.

Anyhow, my question is, is it possible to have the medals re-issued? I already have his "Dead Mans Penny", and i'd like to have his medals mounted with it.

Cheers

David

David,

His original medals would have been held for 10 years and then to Woolwich to be broken up.

Your best bet is to contact the Medal Office in Leamington Spa for further information.
