The History of the 4th/7th Royal Dragoon Guards 1685-1980 by Brereton comes to mind. It deals with the Great War and the Second World War.

Tom Bridge's Alarms & Ecursions (pub. c.1920s) - the author was an officer in 4th Dragoon Guards and fought at Mons and Audregnies, plus on the Aisne etc. Great book, but hard to find.

Paul.

like the sound of that, especially as the events he was writing about and he took part in,would be fairly fresh in his memory.compared to a 2nd or 3rd hand account written some decades later.i'll keep a look out for that, but given it's age may be difficult to find,as you have said.

Steven
