Cpl James Nisbet BLACK,

10394 8th Regt, South African Infantry, who died aged 32 on 17.03.17. Dar es Salaam British and Indian Memorial, Tanzania

The 8th South African Infantry formed part of Brig General Beeves reserve force. They took part in the action on the Lateama Ridge early in Smut's offensive against German East Africa and were later sent as part of a reinforcing brigade to General DeVenters 2nd Division at Kondoa Irangi. The 8th SAI arriving at Kondoa Irangi around the 23rd May 1916.
