jimmyjames Posted 15 March , 2008 Share Posted 15 March , 2008 I submitted a possible non-com case to the CWGC last November when I spotted an article in the "Gloucestershire Echo" published on 4th November 1914 that he had died in an accident at Bristol (Temple Meads) Railway Station on 3rd November. The article mentioned that he has recently been commissioned into the Glos Regt. He had in fact been commissioned into the 9th (Service) Battalion on 17th september 1914 which was Gazetted on 18th September 1914. The poor chap had fell under a train which removed his legs and he bled to death. Hugh McArthur had for a few years worked for his father's business in Bristol and he was residing in the Clifton area at the time of his death. Regretably I did not manage to locate his final resting place during my research and investigations made by the CWGC were also unsuccessful. Wherever he is, may he rest in peace. He certainly is not forgotten. Jimmy
