Hi I have a service record which states Woolwich (Sloops).

I have searched and i cannot find sloops listed, I have searched for Hoops Hoots etc The only reasonable match i can make is Moose, but i do not think this is right as the end letter looks like a s.

If i can get my scanner to work i will scan a copy in and post it.

Does anyone else have any ideas?

Kind Regards

James

Hi James,

Woolwich was a depot ship & [sloops] is more likely to be a generic term used for smaller ships which she serviced. There were different types of sloops, e.g., Flower Class, 24 Class, Kil Class, etc.

Regards,

ARABIS.
