mnol Posted 13 March , 2008 Share Posted 13 March , 2008 Hi As you have his regiment number and attestation papers, you can order his service record. I did this for my great great uncle who was with the Canadian Expeditionary Force in WW1, his record was about 70 pages long and cost me €25 approximatley, well worth it! If you check out this link it will guide you to where you order:- http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/index-e.html

Hywyn Posted 13 March , 2008 Share Posted 13 March , 2008 I've never had to pay to see these attestation forms. http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/archivi...42-100.01-e.php Do you mean what is on this Ancestry database? http://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin/sse.d...o=3#SearchAgain If so then I believe it to be the attestation papers as per link one. Even though my membership doesn't cover it I found it useful in searching a place name (in the birth location or residence or keyword), which gives the soldiers name, which you can then go to the first link site. It may return a few hits but you know that one of them will have your placename. Hywyn Edit EG Peterbo* brings up 1900+. Bit of a bummer if there is a similar placename in Canada but there weren't many of my Welsh ones!

Ulsterlad Posted 13 March , 2008 Share Posted 13 March , 2008 , his record was about 70 pages long and cost me €25 approximatley, well worth it! Hi mnol, that sounds great. I've recently ordered the full service records for 2 of my great-grand uncles. Can I ask you how long it was before you received your order? Kind regards.
