kloughnane Posted 28 February , 2008 Share Posted 28 February , 2008 My uncle is trying to find out some information on his grandmother's brother. He was 75899 Dvr Ebenezer Dawson, Royal Field Artillery, "B" Bty 83rd Bde He has always believed that he was killed in Northern Italy on Armistice Day. I have checked the local paper (the Staffordshire Weekly Sentinel) and there is an entry in January 1919 stating that he died in Italy. However: The CWGC site shows that he died on the 25 November 1918 and that he is buried in the Maurois Communal Cemetery, which I believe is in France. Does anybody know the whereabouts of this unit on Armistice Day? Or what actions they were involved in at that time? Is it possible that a soldier could be killed in Italy and then buried in France?
