There is one medal Index Card at the National Archives for a Thomas James Evans.

Medal card of Evans, Thomas J

Corps Regiment No Rank

Royal Sussex Regiment G/34714 Private

Royal Warwickshire Regiment 44025 Private

However, this may not be your Great Uncle. Have you any other info. For example his medals. His service number will be on the back of a Star or stamped on the edge of the others.
