Alister Posted 26 February , 2008 Share Posted 26 February , 2008 I have come across a copy Hints for Regimental Medical Officer's of the Territorial Force which was once the property of Lieutenant John Fox Russell, RAMC, who was awarded an MC and a posthumous VC for his gallantry in palestine in 1917. On the flyleaf is inscribed: Lieutenant RAMC 2/2 Brigade (Welsh) RFA, Bedford. Can anyone illuminate me as to which Royal Field Artillery unit this was and when it went to France? Many thanks. jay dubaya Posted 26 February , 2008 Share Posted 26 February , 2008 Welcome to the forum, I don't have very much inforation about the 2/2nd Welsh Brigade. They were renumbered 341st Brigade RFA TF in April 1915. The 1/2nd Brigade were part of the 53rd (Welsh) Division and prior to sailing for Egypt in July 1915 were training in Bedford with the rest of the division. The 53rd (Welsh) Division served in Galipolli the Palestine until the Armistice (31st October 1918). I'm not sure if the 2/2nd Brigade served overseas but perhaps supplied drafts to the 1/2nd Brigade. Hope this helps, cheers, Jon
