Youve taken some fantastic photos.Can anyone tell me why some of the Headstones in this cemetery are lying down?

Some of the headstones are laid flat due to subsidence whne the cemetery was enlarged. Most likely due to the collapse of german dugouts at the time.

The top end of the cemetery is built over part of the Schwarben Redoubt. As a result, it was feared that in the fullness of time the ground was liable to subsidence, and so a number of the headstones were laid flat. Amongst those so laid are a couple with inscriptions of nine or eleven unknown British soldiers, which seems to be quite a rarity.
