Guest gsward Posted 23 February , 2008 Share Posted 23 February , 2008 I would be pleased if someone could decipher this entry given in an Absent Voters List: Pte 865th Agri.Co.Lab.C. Where might I find a battalion/unit history? Thanks.
John_Hartley Posted 23 February , 2008 Share Posted 23 February , 2008 Welcome to the Forum This will be 865th Agricultural Company, Labour Corps. There will not be a unit history and very few records survive of the Labour Corps. Basically, the men of the Company will have worked on UK farms. The webmaster of this site may have some information. John
Ivor Lee Posted 24 February , 2008 Share Posted 24 February , 2008 I suspect it is a typing error as 865 wasn't an Agricultural Company. 465 was with HQ at Glencorse, and 665 was with its HQ at Bury St Edmunds. As John said there are no surviving records. Ivor
Guest gsward Posted 24 February , 2008 Share Posted 24 February , 2008 As the man concerned was from Northampton, Bury St Edmunds would be the most likely. Thanks.
