I submitted Cpl Clee's non-com case to CWGC way back in February 2005 and this was finally accepted by MoD(Air) last November. Despite much research on this chap I, regrettably, did not find his final resting place. The CWGC have also been searching for his grave - unfortunately they too have been unsuccessful.

Cheltonian Douglas Clee died in Brentwood Asylum on 3rd February 1919 due to the effects of severe shell shock after serving initially in the RAMC and AOC before service in the RFC/RAF. He left a widow residing in Maida Hill, London.

He is commemorated on the Cheltenham War Memorial and on the Cheltenham Grammar School Roll of Honour.

His brother, Percival, served with the NZEF in the Great War and died of wounds in NZ in 1923 - too late for official recognition.

A clipping from the contemporary Cheltenham press is appended.

Not forgotten.
