Pierre Posted 20 February , 2008 Posted 20 February , 2008 Hello All, A friend of mine has an active service testament 1914-15 of Pte W Brooks 188007 2nd Bn Northamptorshire Regiment. On the first page is a mention LORD ROBERTS'S MESSAGE 25 Augustus 1914 And a sentence: Ask you to put your "tract" in god. He will watch over you and "strength in you". You will find in this little Book guidance when you are in "health", "comfort "when you are in sickness, and strength when jou are in adversity. The words in " " are almost illegible. Could you comfirm the text ? Is Lord Roberts, Lord Roberts of Kandahar or somebody else ? Many thanks. Pierre
daggers Posted 20 February , 2008 Posted 20 February , 2008 'trust', 'strengthen' seem likely. The other words seem OK. Lord Roberts [of Kandahar] died while visiting his beloved Indian troops in France, at an advanced age. Lots of information if you search via Google or similar. I'm sure it was he. Daggers
