I don't have the diary and can't tell you much but the information I have on the 17th Bn shows that 17/519 Pte S H R Hill enlisted on 19th Sept 1914 and served in B Company. He had previously worked for the NER in Middlesbrough.

Hi Richard,

Seeing as you have quite a few other requests, My great Grandfather John (Jack) Wallace served with the 14 N/F. I'd like to know if there is any mention of him in their war diary. Jack, thankfully was a returning soldier.

I also have a few photos of servicemen from the 14th N/F that served with Jack, a couple of them have names but others don't. I was wondering if you would like a copy of them since quite a few people are hoping that you can help them with their research. Perhaps you could pass them on to anyone looking at the battalion in hope that they might be recognised. I'd would really love these guys to have some names. I wonder if there is a complete list of men serving in the 14th, perhaps I will have to track them down one by one!

Speaking of which, do you by any chance know how many men served in the 14th??

The named photos I have are:

Bernard P Dew

32/99 Pte Louis C Kleiser 5 platoon b coy

Albert Telford

Thanks in advance

Odette
