Jim Mitchell Posted 18 February , 2008 Share Posted 18 February , 2008 Hi all, can anyone advise me as to whether there is an online online facility other than National Archives that will allow me to trace SWB recipients through the number on the back. Regards.
Guest KevinEndon Posted 18 February , 2008 Share Posted 18 February , 2008 Fraid not Jim, I dont think you can even get them online from the N/A. A trip to Kew or a researcher may do it for you. Kevin
Ken Lees Posted 18 February , 2008 Share Posted 18 February , 2008 A few people hold the key to finding recipients from the SWB number. Sadly I'm not one of them, but I'm sure someone will point you in the right direction. At Kew, there is only the facility to look through the Rolls which are arranged by unit (or grouped into local units). Therefore you can look through a list of men in a particular unit, or you can look up a specific man having obtained his Roll reference from his Medal Index Card, but you can't easily search by issue number at the NA. sotonmate Posted 18 February , 2008 Share Posted 18 February , 2008 Jim If you post what you know I could probably concentrate it down to the numbers of the WO329 ledgers involved with SWBs for a particular Army centre or Unit. There is still no detailed solution other than a visit to Kew though ! Best wishes Sotonmate
