robertb Posted 21 February , 2019 Share Posted 21 February , 2019 MegMez, According to "British Battalions on the Western Front" by Ray Westlake in February 1915 the 1/Welsh were doing this: "Marched to Stazeele 2nd \nd from there travelled in buses to Vlamertinghe. Marched to Ypres and from there - half battalion went forward to Zillebeke and half to Blauwpoort Farm in support of troops in front line trenches. Took over front line trench 4th. Positions recorded in War Diary as being north of the Ypres-Lille railway. Relieved during night 6th - headquarters and two companies to Zillebeke, two companies to Ypres. Returned to front line 8th." The War Diary for the 7th to 9th February 1915 is as follows: 7th February "A high explosive burst in the farm in which 'B' Coy were located, and set alight to a barn in which there were some men. A good deal of equipment burnt and 1 man killed and 7 wounded." 8th February "In support. During night relieved the N. Fusiliers in trenches." 9th February "In trenches. A portion of the finger had been given up by the N. Fusiliers as untenable and traverses built.
