Hello,

Reading through issue 81 of Stand To i noticed Sergeant Edward Kiernan of the Royal Irish Regiment.

Anthony,

I have a Gunner Edward Kiernan of the Bute Mountain Battery, RGA. He was transferred into the Argyll Mountain Battery and fought at Gallipoli where he was wounded in the neck and shoulder. He was a naive of County Meath who lived in Kingarth, Isle of Bute, Scotland at the start of the war.

There's a long shot for you!

Thanks Anthony.

4802 Serjeant Edward Kiernan was from Kildare in Ireland, he has a number of pages on Ancestry's 'Pension' records. PM me an email address and I'll send them to you if you want them.

Hi Anthony, do you have any place names for the family in Ireland? There are several Kiernan's listed on SDGW with Irish connections,

cheers, Jon

Emails on its way. Interestingly Edward Kiernan's next of kin is shown as his mother Elizabeth who was then living in Dublin so you never know....
