Kevin O'Marah Posted 14 February , 2008 Posted 14 February , 2008 A friends great grandfather, served in the RFA as a driver, his service number was 214445, was the recipient of the Victory and British War Medals (no star) so I gather that he enlisted after 1916 into 4th Battalion, RFA, (Cardigan). By his service number would it be possible to suggest a date of entry and also what other tasks did the driver undertake when the gun was set up for action e.g. loader etc. Diolch Kevin
squirrel Posted 14 February , 2008 Posted 14 February , 2008 As a Driver he would have been on the gun team drawing the gun (those who served the guns were the gun detachment), the ammunition limber or one of the GS wagons for the battery. Unable to help on the number I'm afraid but am sure somone else will be able to help.
