Ivor Lee Posted 13 February , 2008 Posted 13 February , 2008 I was recently contacted about the Labour Corps service of a man who had previously served in the DLI. When I checked his entry using the online MIC I had a shock as there appear to be 5 different men all with the same DLI number! My original query was about Robert Johnstone DLI number 1763. I searched the MIC using the number 1763 and in Corps the word Durham. The result I got was I have come across two men with the same regimental number before but never 5! Over to you guys - am I missing something, is there a problem with the online MIC or have I finally gone completely insane? Ivor
WhiteWolf Posted 13 February , 2008 Posted 13 February , 2008 Ivor Men from the same Regiment, but in different Battalions would/could be issued with the same number. Regards Andy
Ivor Lee Posted 13 February , 2008 Author Posted 13 February , 2008 Andy Of course - should have realised with the 6/1763. Now I know I am getting old! Thanks Ivor
mikebriggs Posted 13 February , 2008 Posted 13 February , 2008 I'd image they were men of the Territorial Battns of DLI (i.e 1/5th, 1/6th, 1/7th, 1/8th & 1/9th) and as Andy said they would all share the same number. Mike
