Hacketts - Canadian Machine Gun Corps

Seems to me I remember some-one looking for details about 2 brothers in the Canadian Machine Gun Corps, and that possibly their names were Hackett. Is this correct or do I need to start the tablets?? Can't find it anywhere on the forum.

I checked the CEFSG site as well and there is no mention of the name "Hackett". We can check further if you wish? Have you located something?

Yes, but it may be nothing new. I was reading Keith Jeffery's book Ireland and the Great War and I found details of the Hacketts brothers mentioned and also a photo of the family. As the book it widely known this may be nothing new but I thought I recognised the names from the forum. It would be something recent if they were mentioned here.

Here are some details from the book in case anyone is interested:-

William Lumley Hackett born in Dublin Listed in Ireland's Memorial records -'Canadian; died of wounds Casualty Clearin Station, November 5, 1918.

Robert (Bert) Hackett also served with the Canadian Machine Gun Corps - he survived the war and went back to Canada. He had also been born in Dublin and emigrated.

The photo in the book is taken when both brothers were on leave in 1917. The brothers are with their sisters and mother. The husband of one of the sisters (Joe Richards) was killed on 1st April 1918 serving with the Canadian Infantry attached to the RAF

It may be buried somewhere in this thread:

There is also a brief thread about a Hackett brother and sister who died during the war.
