I have two pictures, I'm trying to place which Bn the gentleman was in.

The button has the harp which can be seen clearly, There appears to be something on either side of the harp. A guess would be the initials E. R. Rumour has it he was in the Irish Guards.

Thanks Tom,

Question was the Irish Volunteers strictly a home army?

Yes the Irish Army only operated in the 26 Counties of Ireland until the UN overseas service began in the 1960s where they were deployed on peace missions around the world including the Congo. If you have a picture of his uniform I should be able to tell you a year and if you have his number it would also help.

I'll see what I can do Tom. I'm quite challenged at this and I no longer have a youngster in the house to do it for me!!!
