The button has the harp which can be seen clearly, There appears to be something on either side of the harp. A guess would be the initials E. R. Rumour has it he was in the Irish Guards.

museumtom Posted 10 February , 2008 Posted 10 February , 2008 Yes the Irish Army only operated in the 26 Counties of Ireland until the UN overseas service began in the 1960s where they were deployed on peace missions around the world including the Congo.
