P & Ld Section, ASC

Seeking help in identifying what "the P & Ld Section, ASC" was that Pte Finton Patrick Murphy, ASC, No. T/274641, transferred to on 3/2/1917, having previously been at the MT Reserve Depot, Grove Park. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Petrol and Lubricant ??? This is a long shot ... I think that the later term POL stood for Petrol, Oil and Lubricant but in thirty years I never bothered to find out for sure! I have to say that it sounds a bit of a dodgy suggestion as I don't see where the little 'd' of 'Ld' fits in.
