alephh Posted 8 February , 2008 Share Posted 8 February , 2008 I have been trying to locate a list of (good/major) WWI documentaries, but without success. Does anyone know any such list or resource? I tried to use the keywords search in imdb, but that didn't work - it lists only 4 movies. List by imdb would have been great because the ratings would have shown the overall quality of the documentaries, making it easy to spot the best and avoid the worst. John Gilinsky Posted 10 February , 2008 Share Posted 10 February , 2008 Try looking or previewing if you can the following: Channel Four "The First World War" Series of 4 dvds Based on the book by Professor Hew Strachan Series narrated and produced by Jonathan Lewis 2004 Focus on colour footage throughout; then and now film footage including out of the way fronts such as the Eastern Front quite good. We are already seeing repeats of some of the 90th anniversary programmes (the recent Somme documentary on Sky) and Jeremy Paxman's series about the Home Front is due soon. On the same YouTube page it recommended a 1976 documentary on the Somme narrated by Leo Mckern.
