Guest andrew david Posted 31 January , 2004 Share Posted 31 January , 2004 I am looking for any information on the 7th Bn Royal Berkshire Regiment in Salonika in 1916. My great uncle Private E. Arnold fell there and is buried in Karasouli Cemetery.
Kate Wills Posted 1 February , 2004 Share Posted 1 February , 2004 Andrew, The 7th Berks. were in 78th Brigade of the 26th Division. Unfortunately, the divisions that spent the bulk of their war in Salonika, 22nd, 26th, 27th and 28th, did not produce divisional histories, but some of their component units did, such as the 7th Ox & Bucks (my grandfather's battalion), who were also in 78th Brigade. I will take a look and see what refernces it has to the 7th Berks. Are you a member of the recently formed Salonika Campaign Society? Take a look at their website http://www.salonika.freeserve.co.uk/ The SCS newsletter The New Mosquito is publishing articles on the infantry units of the BSF (British Salonika Force), and doubtless the 7th will be covered at some point. Why not drop them a line via the website.
