trenchtrotter Posted 9 May , 2009 Share Posted 9 May , 2009 Mike, I like your badge, it looks good to me. I especially like "sweetheart" badges ie brooched. I think its a good sign. Who would fake a badge, cut of slider and then brooch a copy / restrike? Not cost effective and adds nothing to the value. Regards TT PS I am in the slider camp on these badges. Never seen a lugged one I like.
nzef1914 Posted 9 May , 2009 Share Posted 9 May , 2009 Thanks, what do real ones (like this) sell for? Also were they issued post ww1?
trenchtrotter Posted 9 May , 2009 Share Posted 9 May , 2009 I believe they were issued till 1922? About £15 to £20? TT
auchonvillerssomme Posted 9 May , 2009 Share Posted 9 May , 2009 I agree with TT about the lugs, they just don't feel right.
trenchtrotter Posted 9 May , 2009 Share Posted 9 May , 2009 I have re looked at mine again...no voids in the crown. Is this just a variation? TT

Staffsyeoman Posted 22 May , 2009 Share Posted 22 May , 2009 Is there a full stop after the JR Gaunt, before the London? If so, I'm afraid it's a dud.
max7474 Posted 22 May , 2009 Share Posted 22 May , 2009 Even if the mark was not fake then the artifical patchy blacking should ring alarm bells.
Guest Posted 28 May , 2020 Share Posted 28 May , 2020 Gents I have just come across this discussion, and don't know if you ever found a definitve answer, but this might help. The original Tank Corps badges were issued with the ' slider ' to be worn in the Forage cap, with the adoption of the Beret in 1924 the badge was issued with ' Lugs ', hope this helps. ghchurcher Posted 7 July , 2020 Share Posted 7 July , 2020 (edited) Yes correct all Tank Corps WW1 pattern badges should be on a slider, all those with loops are copies. Edited 7 July , 2020 by ghchurcher Typo
