Remembered Today:

Major Charles Martin Vassar-Smith

Major Vassar-Smith died in 1920 and is buried in the Vassar-Smith family plot in Charlton Kings (St Mary's) Churchyard, just outside Cheltenham.

There was a report in the local newspaper at the time that he had a distinguished military career, and was seriously wounded in the Great War losing a leg. He is not commemorated in the Debt of Honour Register at the CWGC.

I wonder if anyone has come across his name, the circumstances of his wounding, or details of his military career.

With thanks

Jimmy
