Hello,

Can anyone please tell me if any Libraries in the North of England (preferably Yorkshire) have an extensive run of Army Orders covering the period 1910-1935 ish ? Alternatively, have any members of the Forum got such a run ? Thanks.

Regards

Ron

Hi there Ron,

Seeing as your a Leeds lad have you tried the Brotherton Library at the Uni, I looked some material up from the liddle collection there. I hope this helps.

Cheers Roger.

Hello Roger,

Thanks for your reply, sorry for the delayed response but I've only just spotted it. Another oversight, these senior moments are on the increase I fear ! I used to work at the University so I am familiar with their Military History resources but I don't think the Brotherton Library has any Army Orders, but I'll check their Library Catalogue. Thanks for your help, it is much appreciated.

Regards

Ron

Ron,

Apart from the odd copies in private hands, as far as I'm aware there are no copies of Army Orders located in Public Libraries north of Birmingham. However some regimental museums may hold copies, but you would have to enquire with each museum individually.

Graham.

Hello Graham,

Thanks for your reply. I have heard that the main Library in Manchester has copies of Army Orders but don't know how extensive it is. Any Manchester Pals who can verify this please? Thanks again for your help.

Ron

Ron,

Manchester Central Library does have a very good run of Army Orders - I have looked at some of them many years ago now. Contacting them will clear this up.

Regards,

Matthew

Hello Matthew,

Thanks for the suggestion, I don't know why I didn't think of that ! I'll contact Manchester Central Library to see what sequence of Army Orders they hold. Thanks for your help.

Regards,

Ron
