fairlady Posted 23 January , 2008 Share Posted 23 January , 2008 Hello to everybody, I was wondering would anybody be able to say what uniform is this man wearing ? Maybe a regiment (I doubt it as he doens't wear his cap. His name is JAMES LYNCH, he was posted in Cork in around July 1918 where he got married to a local girl named Elisabeth Farrissey, he lived in Tubrid, co.Cork, close by Crosshaven, co.Cork, Ireland. I don't know what regt. he was in or his service number. He was my husband's grand-father, born ca.1893; Here he is standing with his wife. Thanks a lot, Have a nice evening Nathalie
squirrel Posted 24 January , 2008 Share Posted 24 January , 2008 Nothing there to identify a regiment. Uniform looks WW1 and he appears to be wearing riding breeches so would be on mounted duties. This could be cavalry, artillery RFA or RHA, AVC, Mounted MP, yeomanry, engineers, ASC or infantry battalion transport. Perhaps others may be able to help with what units were in Cork at that time. Thanks for your help, Doesn't give me answers but I was quite aware that it would be the answer. Anyway, the hint of the few bodies might throw up something, Thanks again, Nathalie
