Can anyone please explain to a novice how an RFA soldier's unit shown as "RFA 5 C Rse Bde " in 1916 fits into the detailed R F A notes on this site as I,m completely lost .

5C Reserve Brigade, consisting of 49th, 50th and 51st Reserve Batteries was based in the UK at Charlton Park. It was made up of men who were not medically fit to serve abroad.

Thank you Charles for that helpful information. It seems to confirm my suspicions (see my posting of 18th Jan on the Soldier's Forum). I'll keep digging.
