Perhaps this will be of interest to someone. I've had this RPPC for quite a while--thought that I might share it. I think that the photog did a great job with the placement of the camera, with the street ascending to the right and descending on the left, with the human subjects in the center. If I am not mistaken, the German soldier on the left is wearing a military police gorget.

Although I can't read it, the message (following) is dated May 14, 1918. Vervins is in the Aisne and appears on the map to be almost due east and slightly south of St. Quentin.
