Remembered Today:

Stolen wooden crosses

It has come to the attention of the Surrey History Centre, that two WWI wooden crosses have been stolen from Brookwood Cemetery in Woking. For some reason they were not replaced by headstones or transferred to the Military part of the cemetery.

They belonged to 2/Lt E A C McLaughlan (d 9 Nov 1915) and Lt H G B McLaughlan (d 12/13 Oct 1916), both belonged to the 7th Seaforth Highlanders.

If you hear of anything please let Brookwood Cemetery Society know.

For those not already in the know, further Information on the Brookwood Cemetery Society can be found on its website: http://www.tbcs.org.uk/index.htm

It would be very sad if they have been stolen, but, unfortunately, not surprising as, although the cemetery is shut at at nights, it's a large out of the way area which must be difficult enough to police during daylight hours let alone at night.
