Remembered Today:

Ox and Bucks Officer?

Guest Guard 1

Recommended Posts

Please can anyone help.

I have a pair of binoculars, they look to be quite early around 1920 or before.

There engraved with the name of A.J.CROSSE. and 52ND LIGHT INFANTRY.

I belive the 52nd to be the Ox and Bucks regiment. The second initial could also be a T.

Any information would be great.

If a photo is needed I'll see if I can post one when my cameras working.

Many thanks Rowland.

You are correct about the Regiment, however I would think that they are pre WW1, otherwise they would have been labelled OBLI.

Will try and do a medal index look up whilst I'm at the PRO on Friday (weather permitting) and see if I can find anything

regards

Lesley

I'm willing to be corrected, but I think the 2nd Bn OBLI had a penchant to call themselves '52nd' after amalgamation (they certainly did in WW2, and had an embroidered shoulder title FIFTY SECOND indicate the fact).

(Currently, the Cheshire Regiment call themselves '22nd Regiment' - as they were pre-1881- in mess guest books!)

Many thanks that would be great.

They do look early from 1900-1920. I think they could be around 1920 only because there very light weight, the metal could be crome or aluminium.
