shaymen Posted 16 January , 2008 Share Posted 16 January , 2008 Hi All Downloaded this diary quite a while ago ..... Just had a look in the war diary for actions on 7th October 1916 and the appendix for the actions on this day seem to be missing for this day. If anyone has the dairy and could have a look .....is it me or the diary ? Alternatively anyone with an account from the regimental history - it would be appreciated. Thanks Glyn
Malcolm Posted 16 January , 2008 Share Posted 16 January , 2008 Somme Day by Day gives III Corps attack on the Butte de Warlencourt ( 7 Ocober - 5 November) 47 Division The front was being held by 140 Brigade; 142 Brigade was resting. Their first objective was to take SNAG TRENCH. The 1/8th London led the attack but were stopped by machine-gun fire. The 1/15th London with 1/7th London in support met the same fate. All they acheived were some posts near the Le Barque road in touch with 41st Division. mikefry Posted 19 January , 2008 Share Posted 19 January , 2008 Just a Big Thank you to Steven for taking the time to check and send me the scans. Thanks mate Glyn And I'd also like to echo the sentiments. That's the first piece of 'real' information that I've got on my grand-father's service in the KRRC and the 1/15 London. Thanks.
