Go on dont keep us in suspense whats the story

Chris

I think the problem was that

10339 John (Henry) Brown - Coldstream and

10369 John Brown - Coldstream

are so similar the former was overlooked as a clerical error thought to be the same man recorded twice (both died 1914)

I have the following to confirm

SDGW , soldiers papers, local newspaper, Coldstream RHQ soldiers died records, 1914 star roll, 1914 Xmas gift roll, medal index card, - all confirm he was killed. "The Times" confirms he was missing

N.B.: This casualty has recently been accepted for commemoration by the Commission. However, it will not be possible to add his name to this Memorial immediately. Please contact the Commission before planning a visit, for more information.

Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead

Grave/Memorial Reference: Addenda Panel

Memorial: YPRES (MENIN GATE) MEMORIAL

Its useful that the CWGC add this part too
