Statement on enlistment papers

Pals,

a colleague has just shown me an artical he is reading refering to someone researching their grandfather who enlisted with the "Black Watch" in 1915 and has came across the words "annotation political" on his enlistment papers, apparently the archivist at the Black Watch can shed no meaning of what this refers to?

Can anyone shed light on what it means, to put my colleague out of his misery?

many thanks

Might be useful if you could post either an image of the document or the contest in which the statement is made.

Thanks Peter,

heres a piece of the article (from the january 08 Scots magazine):

"According the records held by the archivast of the Black Watch, an annotation political had been added to my Grandfather's enlistment (14/08/1915) papers, but the archivast could not throw any light on the meaning of this why it was added. I have never been able to find out why "political" would be added to anyones enlistmenet papers especially as he was not conscripted, can anyone explain this?"

regards
