Hi Lee

This is a long shot as I do not have a regiment and a search has only turned up possibles. Robert Tucker, he was wounded and lost a leg. He was back in England by September 1916. Dont waste too much time on it, I keep trying in the hope I will turn something up.

Thanks

Christina

If you have time to look for:

Sgt A. TOMBS or TOOMBS

DCM for actions on or about 17/18 July 1916

I'd be really grateful!!

Simon

Lee,

I'd appreciate any details for:

Sgt E Baldwin, King's Liverpool Regiment.

I have just come across, in the local newspaper of January 1917, mention of him being awarded the DCM.

Thanks,

Ken

Could SKS with access to this book please look to see if the following two men are mentioned, battalion war diary suggests they were awarded DCM but I can't find any reference in the London Gazette except for them being MID.

Both are 25th Bn Royal Fusiliers:

12904 L/Cpl. C. Stevens.

13145 CSM A. G. Poole.

Many thanks

Steve

Please note that I haven't forgotten about your requests, I just haven't had the time to do any checks recently. I apologise if this is holding up any research you are doing, I will get back to you soon :)

WJBates - Actually the book doesn't have citations, you'll find them (I presume) on the London Gazette website.

I haven't forgotten Robert Tucker, S. Stopps, T. Watkins & T. W. Lee, but about 25,000 names is a lot to go through without a) losing the will to live and B) losing my eyesight!

3 of those are mine. Please don't rush! I'm just sorry I cannot give you any other corroborating details.

Cheers,

Andrew

Excellent, thanks very much for taking the time and trouble to look for these two men. I now have something concrete to confirm the war diary entry.

Thanks again

At the risk of pushing my luck a bit too far can I please ask you to look for another 25th Royal Fusilier for me?

13359 Cpl. A. Harden

London Gazette online doesn't find him with a DCM search but war diary states otherwise, so here's hoping.

Cheers
